1964 Corvette L84 375HP RPO'd as Z06

This 1964 Corvette incorporates the best of both the 1963 Z06 and the 1965 Fuelie Corvettes.

Typically, the 64 Vette lives in the shadow of the infamous 63 Z06 and the 65 Fuelie but I hope to open some eyes here with this particular 64 Vette. This 64 has the L84 Fuelie motor, as does the 65 Fuelie, which should make this 64 at least as desirable. But it gets better as this 64 Vette was ordered with RPO options equivalent to a 63 Z06. The key component RPO in 1964 to make this Vette equivalent to a Z06 is the J56 Big Brakes, of which only 29 were ordered in 1964. Therefore, it would be fair to say that in 1964, a Vette such as this would be more rare than the Z06’s.

The RPO options on this Vette are: the L84 375 HP Fuel Injected motor, J56 Big Brakes, F40 Suspension, M20 Muncie 4 speed, G81 3.70 Positraction, K66 Ignition, N11 Offroad exhaust, P48 Knock-off Wheels, U69 PB AM/FM Radio, A01 Tinted Glass, A31 Power Windows and black leather interior. The feature on this 64 that goes beyond the 63 Z06, is that this Vette had 15 more horsepower with the L84 375HP, and came with the P48 Knock-off wheels, which were not released in 63.

This Corvette was delivered new to Pistoresi Chevrolet in California. It was first used in the Motor Trend magazine test review in the September 1964 issue. There is a several page write-up of this Corvette in that Motor Trend feature article. It was later campaigned and raced by a local racer and sponsored by Pistoresi Chevrolet. After its racing career, it was restored and reunited with its original motor, knock-off wheels, and even original leather interior. In other words all of its original components were saved by the original owner and the Corvette was put back to the way it left the factory. It has been Bloomington Gold certified and NCRS Top Flight. It has been featured in the Bloomington Special Collection also.
